The itinerary
Itinerary missing 'Burra loop' - i.e. ride direct from Spalding to Clare.
pros: See the best bits, demanding but not gruelling, some time to enjoy the wineries etc, convenience of finishing in Adelaide
cons: Miss a section in the middle
Sat 4th, fly in (arrive 2pmish), drive to Blinman (10pmish)
Sun 5th, Blinman - Wilpena – 'accommodation house', Bush camp at old site accommodation house, 72km, couple of water points along the way; easy start but 14km climb to finish
Mon 6th, camp - Kangaroo Gap - water stash?15L or 30L bush camp nr Mayo Gorge, 84km, water at Kangaroo Gap; water stash 38km later downhill or flat most of the way
Tues 7th, Mayo Gorge - Hawker bush camp nr Death Rock, 66km, water at Hawker, permanent spring at Death Rock (Kanyaka Waterhole), could stash water a few km past this spot as a backup; steep climb early then long gradual climb to 35km, then flat and downhill
Wed 8th, camp - Warren Gorge Quorn, 65km, water at Warren Gorge; easy start then gradual climb then easy
Thurs 9th, Quorn - Wilmington - Melrose bush camp soon after Melrose, 75km, a few hills early then pretty flat
Fri 10th, bush camp -Wirrabara Forest - Laura - Bundaleer Forest, 95km; undulating early; some long steady climbs after Laura - hard day
Sat 11th, Bundaleer - Spalding – leave Mawson and take road Clare (or bush camp a few km before), 81km, undulating early, then Clare is 50m higher than Spalding
Sun 12th, day off in Clare Valley wineries Clare 0km, Riesling Trail cycle loops if we want
Mon 13th, C - Riverton bush camp nr Black Hill or Pines Rec Reserve, 70km, hard climb a few km after Riverton
Tues 14th, bc - Kapunda - Tanunda, 50km, Wine area so short day
Wed 15th, Tanunda - Lobethal, 76km, steep climb 10km after Tanunda
Thurs 16th, Lobethal - Adelaide fly out (Crowdy dep 12ish) 45 (max)km,
